Horse expressions vary from horse to horse according to their individual personalities to a certain degree. But there are key components of horse language that vary little from one equine to another. Training these wonderful animals successfully depends a great deal on how well one can read and communicate to a in the horse’s language.

Knowing horse behavior cold may be the single most important aspect of successful horse training. Everything we learn about equines makes us better horsemen and horsewomen. Whether or not you intend to train horses or not – as long as you are around them in any capacity – you are, in fact, training them. Make sure you understand equine behavior because, believe me, a horse will train you (and it may be the hard way) if you are unfamiliar with and/or ignore what they are telling you.

Horse Training Tips #1: Know Horse Basic Language

Uncertainty – When unsure the head and neck will be held high and the neck will be tense. The ears will be moving back and forth fairly rapidly. The eyes will be focusing, yet darting and unfixed. The nostrils will be quivering. The legs and feet may be moving around “lightly” or they may be frozen in place. The overall stance or body position will be one of alertness. The body will be tense and may be sweating.Fear – The head, eyes and ears will be directed toward the source of the animal’s concern. The neck will be pulled inward. The eyes will be wide open and the whites will be showing. The nostrils may flare and the horse will likely snort or “blow” (the horse blows air out of the nostrils loudly). A horse is fear will either freeze or take off away from the perceived source of fear. The tail will be clamped tight against the horse’s butt. A horse in fear may crouch, or backup to wheel away. It will display its hindquarters toward the subject of fear in a defensive stance. Contentment / Curiosity – A horse who is comfortable with its surroundings and situation, and who is curious is the goal of a trainer or rider. This means your horse is listening to you and is willing to have you as its leader. The ears will be neutral, yet will quickly tip toward you when you speak or cue the horse. The eyes will also be unfocused, yet will focus on you intently when you are cueing the horse. The horse’s head will be held in a neutral position. Depending on the horse, this may be a head held level, slightly above or below level. The tail may be flicking occasionally at flies, and if you are tacking up for example the horse may have a leg cocked, or squarely planted. This is a horse in a willing state of mind.Anger – When a horse is angry or annoyed its ears will be pinned backward, tight against the head. Its eyes will be slits and its neck may be stretched out level or low and making a snake-like movement. The muzzle will be pursed and the tail will be swishing. The horse will be aggressively moving toward the object of its wrath. Usually that’s another horse and hopefully it’s not a person. If your horse is behaving in this way toward you, you haven’t earned his or her respect.

There are many more physical cues to know about your horse. Horse of Course’s Spurs Blog is a great place to learn more about equine behavior and how a horse physically communicates. No action you take in learning about horses is more important that knowing what they are saying and how they are saying it.

Article by Annabelle Cabella

Do you desire to know hoof care tips

Horses are what you refer to as ungulates. Ungulates are sort of mammals which use the tip of the toes to bear their weight when in motion. Majority of ungulates are with hoofed feet — like horses, mules, camels, zebras, deer, and giraffes.

A hoof is the tip of a toe of an ungulate mammal. Keratin strengthens the hoof as a thick, durable outer jacket. The sole of the hoof is somewhat tough yet rubbery, yet softer than the outside. There is also a hard wall created by the solid nail rolled around the tip of the toe. The whole mass of the horse is carried by the soles of the hooves and also, the edges of its walls.

Equine’s hoofed feet grow but are also worn down by continuous moving. The median weight of horses is often more than a thousand pounds and it is only held up by its two sets of hooves. An equine is treasured because of its power and ability to transport individuals and objects for work and pleasure. They are prized for their mobile function. Needless to say, an equine with hoof problems can be greatly problematic.

Three kinds of hoof care a horseperson should take into account:

Cleaning

In most things we do, hygiene is priority. It is very vital to clean the hooves of your equine mainly prior to riding and after it. Every horse owner must have an important tool, the hoof pick. It will be your best bud in horse grooming particularly with its hooves.

It should be mentioned that even animals that are not at all ridden should still be groomed with a hoof pick to prevent thrush. It should be done daily. A horse with wet hooves is very difficult to maintain.

Trimming

As earlier mentioned, hooves are continuously growing. Thus, they require trimming for maintenance and to maintain the horse in proper form. Trimming should be done about one to two months, depending on the use of the animal and the conditions it’s kept in. Trimming can be difficult and it demands extensive skill. Trained farriers must be the only ones to conduct this procedure to prevent incorrect trimming.

Mistakenly trimming the walls too short is often the mistake. Paring of too much sole is just like cutting your nails too short and can make lameness in the animal on top of pain. Hoof care must be done by a professional as it is not a good idea to save a few pennies in exchanged for a ruined equine. Have a capable, skilled farrier do the job. The money spent is absolutely worth it.

Shoeing

Imagine yourself doing hard work without any footwear. Do you think it would easy?

We use footwear such as shoes because we need protection for our feet. Equines needed them more than anything elese. Even though equines have naturally strong and durable feet, they still need to be shod if they are doing a lot of work.

Some equines may have fairly weak or flat hoofwalls, or simply not built for hard labor. Such animals need shoes even they are not for work purposes. It is better to ask a vet or a farrier about this, as whoever is doing the corrective shoeing must really know their stuff.

Pet bird breeds is passionately enjoyed as an entertaining activity. It is in existence since the beginning of human civilization. Birds are amazing creatures that make wonderful pets for many. People use them for their exotic and delightful feathery appearances to decorate their house or for leisure pursuit. Some cage them as status symbol while some pet enthusiasts love bird watching.

Choosing the right bird as a pet requires good research. Factors like size of bird matters a lot as bigger the size more is the responsibility to manage it. Thus it is advised to go for a medium sized bird. Sensible and practical approach is also important to understand your potential before making a final decision to buy a particular bird. Apart from bird selection, its social needs, expenses incurred and life span has to be considered.
Most common pet bird breeds:

Though there are plenty of beautiful birds, only a few kinds are suitable as pets.

Some of the most common pet bird breeds are:
• Parrots
• Love birds
• Parakeets
• Cockatiels
• Conures
• Canary
• Dove
• Macaws

How to select a particular pet breed?
There are various likings that affect an individual’s choice. Wide ranging tastes and preferences of bird lovers differ extensively. A prior research is essential that helps the breeders to select their desired bird breeds. Helpful online information is easily available that can be accessed by the pet bird enthusiasts.
Selection of a particular bird breed requires various aspects. It involves knowledge of behavior and temperament of a particular breed. Many people visit bird sanctuaries and Birds Park to get an idea about the requirements of various articles that will be needed. By taking assistance of pet breeders you can find and chose any variety to breed as per your preference. Later you can raise, breed, teach and train them.

How to breed the pet bird?
Keeping pet birds involves breeding. Along with nurture and development the pet bird owners must have hands on information about the mating patterns of the birds according to the species. For example most of the birds breed at least once or twice as they too have a tendency to multiply and have a family. It is not an easy task and requires a number of key issues that has to be taken into consideration.

A successful bird breeder needs four basic factors like time, money, adequate knowledge and sincere devotion. All these things have to be understood by a pet owner before rushing out to buy a bird mate. A pet owner must be aware of all the pet care related duties as he/she is totally responsible for their life and maintenance.
Lots of issues must be prioritized to accommodate a bird pet breeding operation. Normally you require things like nest boxes, extra cages, an incubator and a brooder for breeding pet birds. If it is not manageable, you can hire pet bird breeding professionals to completely take charge of their breeding needs.

Points to remember for domestic bird breeds:
• Birds are vertebrate and warm-blooded creatures
• Remain on the thighs most of the time or walk
• Limbs of the birds are modified into wings
• Body is mostly covered with feathers
• Birds present a toothless horny beak
• Lays eggs to reproduce
• Usually eat larva
• Families of birds cannot be defined by morphology always
• Normally birds live in terrestrial biomes while some live in oceans. Thus appropriate climatic conditions and environs are to be created when you keep birds as pets.

A variety of interesting things can be learned from most of the domestic bird breeds. For example their nesting, feeding young ones, migration, mating and companionship with mates, etc. is interesting to observe. Besides this, Pet bird breeds also gives an opportunity to understand communication between these birds, their interaction, various visual signals, humming, and a large variety of sounds. It is a learning experience to see their intelligence and see their capability to transmit culture and knowledge to new generations.

There are many veterinarians that work in a private practice. The percentage reaches 80% and you will find 6% among them focusing on horses. This number is got from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

When you want o be an equine veterinarian, you should be able to accept on-call emergencies, to perform the examinations, to diagnose the conditions and to provide on-site treatment in any conditions. Additionally, there are many duties that you should do. One of duties that you should do is that your patients should be your priority. This is based on the guidelines from the American Association of Equine Practitioners. You should also minimize pain or fear of the equines that you are working with.

You will find that equine veterinarian needs a lot of equipment to make the job easy. When you get this profession, you might need anything to be portable.

You might need a truck, van or trailer with all the equipment inside. You can perform, the treatment to your patients at the clinic and you can bring the equine back with the vehicle that you have.

Furthermore, equine veterinarian should have a good relationship with the client and the patient. This means that you should maintain accurate and confidential records, wait prescriptions and make arrangements care for the equines when you have become an equine veterinarian.

However, bachelor’s degree is the main requirement that you should fulfill when you want to become an equine veterinarian. The degree must focus on sciences that include zoology, animal nutrition, biology and chemistry. Then you must also complete a four-year veterinary medicine. Additionally, you should hold the license from the state that will allow you to practice in the U.S.

Those are several things about equine veterinarian that you should know if you are interested in this profession. With hard work, you will be able to get the job and work with horses that need help. But, you should always be careful since it might be quite dangerous to work with large animal.

Instead of equine veterinarian, other specialized veterinarian will need veterinary medical equipment to do the job. The equipment includes Luer Lock syringe to do the injection.

The moment a child gets their first pony is an incredibly special one. After months of searching, a choice has been made and that perfect first equine partner, the one that ticks all the boxes, has been found. However, it is important to realise that the arrival of the child’s new four-legged friend is not the time to start thinking about how to look after him. One of the most important things to think about is the horse feed he will be provided with.Firstly, it’s vital to ask the previous owner what the pony has been fed so far. Is there a specific brand or type of horse food that the pony has been eating? A horse’s digestive system is very sensitive and doesn’t cope well with sudden changes. It is a much better idea to change the horse’s diet over gradually. This might mean sticking with what the pony was used to at its last home, and slowly introducing it to whatever diet the new owner has in mind. Be prepared and make sure there is enough hay and feed to give the pony, for when he arrives at his new home. One of the main mistakes novice owners make is feeding too much. While it can be tempting to give a pony an extra scoop of hard feed, especially when he is new to the yard and everyone is trying to help him settle in and bond with his new owners, it is always advisable to feed according to the horse food manufacturer’s guidelines. Feed too much and the pony might put on too much weight and the extra energy might have a negative impact on his temperament. Most pony breeds are very hardy and don’t need an awful lot of hard feed. In fact, they can be susceptible to painful conditions such as laminitis when they are overfed. Stick to low-energy, high-fibre horse food and plenty of forage.A number of other factors will determine how much food the pony needs to receive. If the child is a beginner rider and will only be doing light hacking and a bit of schooling, he will need much less hard feed than a more active pony that is being used for show jumping and cross-country training. How he is being kept and what the season is will also dictate the amount and energy content of the feed. If a pony is being kept outside 24/7 over winter, he will need more horse food to help him keep warm and to prevent him from losing too much weight. If he is on lush spring grass, a pony will probably need minimal hard food, and might even need to be put on restricted grazing if he is putting on too much extra weight.Buying a child’s first pony can be a huge learning curve, with choosing the appropriate horse food being just one of those lessons. Some of the best things a new owner can do is keep it simple, educate themselves as much as possible and never forget that horse food company Help Lines can provide excellent feed management advice.

Mindful work with horses, says neurosurgeon Allan J. Hamilton, can enlighten the human handler as much as it benefits the horse. Evolving over 30 million years to become the quintessential prey animal, equines have developed acute right-brain survival skills, such as leadership, awareness, empathy, and cooperation. In particular the horse has finely honed abilities to lead, communicate, and connect not with words, but with the vital emotional energy described in the Buddhist tradition as chi. Wh

Have the Infection Removed

The primary thing that you need to execute when you notice that your equine has a disease is that you need to make sure that you’re clearing it out. It means that you are going to need to get into the wound and wash it out or spray it down. This may means that you are going to require to have somebody who could monitor the equine while you’re dealing with their equine infection, which indicate that you ought to be careful so that you aren’t getting hurt.

Bandage the Infection Efficiently

After you’ve the infection cleaned out, you must be certain that the equine infection will not get affected again. Therefore, what you would like to do is make sure that you are bandaging it thoroughly. This means that you need to cover it up and that you also have to make certain that dampness will not gather in that since that could likewise trigger an infection and bring about troubles for your equine animals.

It is essential to get the perfect size bandages that can cover an area that’s afflicted.

Monitor the Infected Region

You don’t need to bandage up the equine infection and just let it rest itself, you need to be sure that you are monitoring it regularly and that you’re changing the bandage also. You must examine it once a day to enable you to be certain that it isn’t getting even worse. If it’s getting more infected you are going to need to take them to the veterinarian and ensure that they’re acquiring some antibiotics or something else that they might need. It’s very important to examine this every single day.

Go to the Veterinarian whenever it Worsens

You need to fully understand the point that you are going to take your equine animal to the vet.
